Room 401

videoinstallation / in collaboration with Julia Perkuhn & Konstantin Richter / 2016

An empty hotel room. The lights are out. The curtains are closed. It's quiet. The bed is made. It's tidy and clean. No suitcase, no used towel.

Nobody sleeps here.

With the video installation Room 401, texts are projected over the pillow in the hotel room.

These are divided in such a way that only one word is visible at a time. Thus the reading speed for the viewer is determined.

The texts deal with the hotel room as a room that cannot be grasped. Countless people sleep every day in hotel rooms that can hardly be distinguished from each other. Everything personal is taken away or removed.

Zimmer 401 makes these traces visible again in the form of the thoughts that were thought in this bed.
